ROUND 6: PICK 34 (211TH OVERALL) – ARRION SPRINGS, CB (OREGON)

What a difference a trade makes, right? In my first two mock drafts, the KC Chiefs went after a cornerback early due to really needing someone across from Marcus Peters.

That’s not the case anymore though, as the Chiefs sent Alex Smith to Washington in exchange for their third round pick and Kendall Fuller. Fuller has the ability to immediately become that second corner for the Chiefs.

Even with Fuller in town, the Chiefs should still look at adding at least one cornerback through the draft. Arrion Springs is who Kansas City goes with late in the draft and he spent four years at Oregon.

Springs had 137 tackles, two sacks, and two interceptions during his four years as a Duck. He didn’t play much as a freshman, but he had significant playing time from his sophomore year and on.

Springs isn’t the second coming of Marcus Peters, but at this point, the Chiefs are just drafting for depth at positions where injuries frequently occur. Cornerback is one of those positions.
