#2 Chase Daniel – QB – Saints
I harped on the Kansas City Chiefs for several years about paying too much for a backup quarterback in Chase Daniel. However, my tune is going to change a bit now that the Chiefs are rolling with a young guy at quarterback. A veteran who knows Andy Reid’s offense is an important investment, and Daniel definitely checks those boxes.
While most Chiefs fans are excited about the beginning of the Patrick Mahomes era, the KC front office is certainly focused on getting things set up for him. Adding a guy who already knows the system like Chase Daniel does just makes a lot of sense. Daniel can come in as a veteran backup and not rock the boat at all.

Chase Daniel is a free agent this year, and the Saints appear to have their next top backup already on the roster. There likely won’t be a huge market for Daniel, so that means the Chiefs can take their time with targeting him, and probably do so relatively cheap.
This will be an underrated move for the Chiefs that could pay off big time completely out of the view of the general public.
