Kansas City Chiefs: Mr. Smith Goes To Washington
A Decision Is Made
If you think this is something that popped up for the Kansas City Chiefs overnight, you are sadly mistaken. Brett Veach and the Chiefs front office set this plan into motion all the way back in April of 2017 when they made the move to draft Patrick Mahomes. Yes, this plan goes all the way back to before our GM was even the GM.
Brett Veach is the man who first pounded the table on Patrick Mahomes. It was enough to get Andy Reid interested, and from there the dominoes fell. It’s possible that this even spelled the ultimate end for the John Dorsey era in Kansas City, but that’s just speculation on my part.
What isn’t speculation is that the Chiefs never had a quarterback controversy. Just a well-structured plan for the future of the franchise. Patrick Mahomes was the future of Kansas City football the moment he was drafted. Everything else afterwards was simply about how the team would move forward.
