ROUND 7: PICK 15 (233RD OVERALL) – DEANDRE GOOLSBY, TE (FLORIDA)

Aside from Travis Kelce, who do the Kansas City Chiefs have at the tight end position? Don’t you even dare say that Demetrius Harris is a nice backup option there because we all know that’s a lie.

The truth is that we’re over the Demetrius Harris experiment and it’s time for the Chiefs to find some viable options outside of Kelce. In the seventh round, the Chiefs select DeAndre Goolsby with their first pick in the final round.

The reason for Goolsby dropping all the way to the final round of the draft is that he struggled to stay healthy in 2017. The Florida tight end missed five games a season ago and only hauled in 13 receptions for 105 yards and one touchdown in his final season as a Gator.

All together, Goolsby racked up 68 receptions for 724 yards and five touchdowns in three years in Gainesville. Those aren’t the stats of a Pro Bowler, but they don’t have to be. This is simply a depth pick to slot in as a second or even third tight end option.

The Chiefs can’t continue to count on Demetrius Harris to become a reliable tight end. He’s just not that and he’s had five years to prove it. Time for the Chiefs to go out and draft someone.
