ROUND 6: PICK 22 (199TH OVERALL) – KEMOKO TURAY, EDGE (RUTGERS)

I didn’t mean to take three Big Ten players with the first four picks, but here we are. The Chiefs go with their fourth straight defensive player in Kemoko Turay out of Rutgers.

Something that was blatantly missing from the Chiefs defense last season was a solid pass rush and that’s something Turay could help with in Kansas City. He totaled 96 tackles and 14.5 sacks during his four-year career at Rutgers.

Seven and a half of those sacks came as a freshman in 2014 when Turay was predominantly a pass rush guy. His two seasons after that saw him bitten by the injury bug (namely a nagging shoulder injury), but he rebounded nicely as a senior and recorded 60 tackles with three and a half sacks.

Turay showed up big time at the Senior Bowl and Kyle Crabbs of FanRag Sports did a piece on him. In that piece, Crabbs mentioned that Turay could be a legit pass rusher for whatever team takes a chance on him.

"Now, Turay has the burst and length to be an effective pass rusher with a much more sturdy frame. In watching Turay this season, he showed a better nose for crashing through gaps and creating chaos in the backfield, as evidenced by his six tackles for loss."

You don’t see many guys get drafted out of Rutgers, but Kemoko Turay has the ability to be something special in the pros.
