ROUND 4: PICK 22 (124TH OVERALL) – TRENTON THOMPSON, DT (GEORGIA)

While Josey Jewell will help in the run game, this pick will hopefully really solidify it. The Chiefs get a steal in round four with their selection of Trenton Thompson out of Georgia.

The big question mark with Thompson is that he didn’t have as much playing time as pro teams would have preferred. The good news is that when Thompson was on the field, his presence was usually felt.

Bennie Logan is hitting free agency this offseason and it’s doubtful the Chiefs retain him. That means it’s time to turn to the draft to address the run defense and Trenton Thompson is a great start in that department.

During his three-year stint at Georgia, Thompson had 127 tackles (15.5 for loss), five and a half sacks, and three defended passes. The Chiefs can’t keep ignoring the run stopping issues within their team, so hopefully Trenton Thompson will be the answer to their problems.
