Best Kansas basketball seasons all-time:

  • ’70-’71 Kansas Jayhawks
  • Head Coach: Ted Owens
  • Results: 27-3 Final Four

Ted Owens most talented team perhaps, led by Dave Robisch, his Jayhawks were both offensively and defensively sound. They managed to storm through the season with only one loss at Louisville. In the tournament they trekked all the way to the final four where they faced the mighty Bruins of UCLA.

The Jayhawks fought hard, but Henry Bibby could not be stopped. UCLA went on to win by eight. Robisch went on to play professionally until 1984.

Bud Stallworth was a Junior on the season. In 1972 he became the conference Player of the Year and went on to play professionally before a car accident cut his career short.

The Jayhawks had perhaps the most dominant regular season team in school history during the ’70-’71 season.
