Kansas City Chiefs: Way Too Early 2018 NFL Mock Draft

The Kansas City Chiefs were eliminated from the playoffs early once again, which means it’s time to jump right into draft season!
Ahhh, draft season. A time for reflection and most importantly, mock drafts. This will be my third year doing these mock drafts and I use Fanspeak’s On the Clock NFL Mock Draft Simulator. If you haven’t played around with this tool before, I strongly encourage it because it’s a ton of fun!
This year’s draft season is a little bit different for the Kansas City Chiefs, as they don’t have a first round draft pick. Of course this could change depending on what happens with Alex Smith (and if he’s worth a first rounder to some teams), but as of now, the Chiefs will not be on the clock until pick 54 of the draft.
That will be a long time for Chiefs Kingdom to wait, but doing mock drafts definitely passes the time. When I do these mock drafts, I choose a different theme for each edition. Since this is the first one of the draft season, I appropriately titled it the “Way Too Early” mock draft.
The reason for that is simple. It’s way too freaking early to know what any teams are for sure going to do in the draft. Unless you’re a team picking in the top five (and even then it’s no given), it’s tough to know what direction to go in simply because there are a lot of unanswered questions. Free agency still has to take place and teams don’t know what those picking ahead of them are going to end up doing.
So, without further ado, here is the first 2018 NFL Mock Draft of the season for ya, Chiefs Kingdom! Enjoy!
