Kansas City Chiefs: 2017 Rookie Breakdown
Wrap Up
The Kansas City Chiefs draft class did not do a whole lot this season. In fact, besides Kareem Hunt, they did nothing. That is simply because the Chiefs focused on the future of the franchise with the 2017 draft. In a few seasons, all of these names listed above should be much-needed players on the roster.
From Patrick Mahomes, to Leon McQuay, the Chiefs have their future set up the way they want it. With time, these players will eventually make some noise, even if it is not with the Chiefs. You just never know how a player will turn out, but there is a lot to like about this crop of rookies. Patience is the key here.
Sure, Leon McQuay did not have 9 interceptions, and Tanoh Kpassagnon did not have 10 sacks. But, that is not even close to fair to say. There was plenty of talent ahead of them, which made the timing not right for the rookies. We will know much more about this draft class in 2018 when they take on much more predominant roles.
However, talent does not stick around forever. Leon McQuay will probably never have 9 interceptions for the Chiefs, but he should end up getting minutes when need be. The timing will eventually pan out for the rookies, and they will get their shot on the gridiron.
Whatever ends up happening to these young talented prospects is up to them, and the team. If they stick around, they will eventually be a much-needed prospects for the Chiefs. But, for the time being, just sit back and appreciate the talent-spewing roster in Kansas City, all backed up by talented players waiting for their chance to shine.
