Kansas City Chiefs: A weapon on the practice squad is Chiefs best kept secret
By Chris Taylor
Heading into the off-season, many who follow the Kansas City Chiefs feel like the team needs receiver help, after this you’ll change your mind.
The Kansas City Chiefs are heading into a new era – an era unlike anything Chiefs fans have ever seen. The writing is on the wall. The potential for Patrick Mahomes and the offense is through the roof and the targets he has at his disposal could be sneaky good.
There is no sneaking around when it comes to Tyreek Hill, as he has quickly become an elite receiver in the NFL. His numbers should only increase with Mahomes slinging the ball.
There is another weapon on offense for Mahomes to utilize, a man who has patiently waited for his opportunity, a man who probably has the best hands of any receiver the Chiefs have on their roster. That man is Gehrig Dieter.
Gehrig may not be known around the NFL as of yet, and that is fine for the Chiefs, as he made it all season on the Chiefs practice squad without getting nabbed or cut.
There is a reason Andy Reid has kept Dieter under wraps, to become part of the plan when Gehrig’s one time roommate and good friend Patrick Mahomes takes over at quarterback.
Whispers around Kansas City tell of a connection between the two unmatched by any other. So who is Gehrig Dieter? I am nowhere near qualified to write his biography, but his story is a good one.
