Wednesday – Vs Oklahoma State

Saturday – at Kansas

In what counts as an off-day in the grinder Big12, K-State gets to play 1-2 Oklahoma State at home. Don’t take my poor joke as suggesting this will be an easy game. Oklahoma State can score in bunches while they are clearly in the bottom of the Big12, so is K-State.

If the Wildcats think they can sleepwalk, it will ugly. Thankfully, though, this is the only kind of game you could wish for with the Stokes injury, at home against a lower team. K-State needs this win desperately and frankly, so does Oklahoma State.

More from Kansas State Wildcats

Of course, every K-State basketball fan will know what’s coming up on Saturday against the jayhawks. It’s actually a bit frustrating to see all the Wildcat struggles as this appears to be the most vulnerable a KU team has been in a long time. Yet, K-State is going to be coming in as a bottom half conference team without their starting point guard.

It’s never going to be easy in the Big12, but Bruce Weber should set the minimum acceptable at one win this week. It would be nice to end the mini two game skid right off the bat on Wednesday, but if he can’t, that game on Saturday will loom large.

Personally, I’d like to see a bit more fight too. This week wasn’t a good look, personality-wise, for this team. They seemed to shrink at the toughness of the Big12, which won’t get any easier and didn’t capitalize on what is still a good road win at Iowa State.

There is also the issue, that without Stokes, this season can take a downturn that will end the tenure of the head coach. I’m sure that’s in the back of everybody’s minds and hopefully will inspire some great basketball.
