The aftermath

I understand I skipped many key elements during the game. But this article is not a recap of the game whatsoever. I am here to speak out, and share my story. My story of witnessing a downfall first-hand.

From the controversial calls by the officials, to the utterly disturbing second half, the Chiefs just could not overcome adversity. All things went well for the Kansas City Chiefs in the first half, and many, including myself, assumed the same thing would transpire in the second. However, things went South in a hurry. The Chiefs blew an 18-point lead, and there is no fixing it.

Once the clock ticked zero, I was walking down the steps, heading to my car. As I was leaving the stadium, I observed, and listened to see what other fans had in mind. “Why us? Are we cursed?” screamed a fan as he sat in disbelief. “Mahomes would have won this game!” “Fire Any Reid!” “I hate that I am a Chiefs fan! Why do I do this to myself every single year?”

Those quotes listed above are no joke, as I heard each one of these come from a different fan’s mouth. The place was quiet, with a few muttered comments such as the ones listed above.

As I was walking out of the stadium, many trash cans were kicked over from fans taking their anger out on the franchise… I mean the trash can (common mistake). Fans were chanting “Fire Andy Reid…Fire Andy Reid..Fire Andy Reid!” I may not agree with this chant, but it was something that made me just feel sad.

I just watched one of the worst collapses in all of the NFL playoff history, and it happened to a football team I pour my heart and soul into.
