For whatever reason, the New York Jets simply cannot get the quarterback position right. So turning to the Kansas City Chiefs to acquire the services of Alex Smith would make some sense. At the very least, Smith should provide a steady presence for the Jets. That’s something they haven’t had in a long time.
The Jets were favorites to take the first overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, but somehow managed to win games this year. That has put them in a bit of a tough spot as far as getting their next quarterback. New York will be picking sixth, and there are several teams ahead of them likely to get a quarterback.
Alex Smith is an intriguing possible option for the #Jets. Not the sexiest solution, but maybe the smartest of the realistic options.

Adding a veteran like Alex Smith makes sense even if the Jets get their quarterback in the draft. This position has been an absolute mess for New York, and they need to throw some options at it. Having Smith as a bridge would be a solid move, and worth a decent investment. Though they may wait until draft day to make their move.
