Kansas City Chiefs: Potential Alex Smith landing spots

Kansas City Chiefs: Alex Smith’s Next Team
#5: Jacksonville Jaguars
In many ways the Jacksonville Jaguars are following the trail of the Kansas City Chiefs. The Jags are built around their defense and running game, but don’t have a top tier quarterback. Some would argue that Blake Bortles and Alex Smith are too close in talent for this move. That’s not necessarily wrong, but Smith does bring a veteran presence.
Tom Coughlin is no fool though. If he doesn’t believe Alex Smith is the right guy to lead this franchise, it won’t happen. Jacksonville is in a position to be very good over the next couple of years. That means they will likely be very meticulous in deciding who they go after at quarterback. Expect them to be players for both Eli Manning and Kirk Cousins.
The fact that the Jaguars will likely be careful with what they do also means they will probably be on the stingy side of an offer. It’s hard to see the Jags being ok with giving away a first round pick. Then again, they may not be in a position to do anything else. That’s the problem with drafting at the end of the round.
