Kansas City Chiefs: Alex Smith’s Next Team

#10: New York Giants

The situation with the New York Giants has turned into a bit of a mess, and there is no telling how it will be sorted out. The Kansas City Chiefs should certainly reach out to Dave Gettleman about a trade, though I wouldn’t get my hopes up. If Gettleman is ready to start the transition away from Eli Manning, it would likely be in the draft.

However, there is a chance that this could happen. Dave Gettleman comes from a Panthers organization that enjoyed success with a mobile quarterback. Alex Smith certainly has that over Eli Manning. Pairing Smith with a similar quarterback in the draft (Baker Mayfield?) wouldn’t be terrible logic for the Giants.

I will say though that I think New York would give up the least for Alex Smith. Unless Eli Manning surprises everyone with a retirement announcement, it makes much more sense to stick with him over Smith. Stranger things have happened though, and we know the Giants are in the market for a quarterback at some point.
