ALL-TIME LEADERS IN PASSING YARDS – NUMBER 13: STEVE TAYLOR (2,815)

Nebraska Quarterback from 1985-1988

Steve Taylor was yet another predominant rushing quarterback that played for Nebraska during Tom Osborne’s legendary career in Lincoln. Taylor still managed to crack the list in passing yards with 2,815 through four years.

Taylor didn’t see much action during his freshman year, but did get to play in the Fiesta Bowl that year. While the Huskers lost that game to Michigan, fans got to see what the future at quarterback looked like in Lincoln.

Taylor’s best season was definitely his senior year, where he threw for 1,067 yards and rushed for 826 yards. He had 11 passing touchdowns and 13 rushing touchdowns during that 1988 season. During that 1988 season, Taylor duked it out with NFL legends such as Troy Aikman of UCLA and Barry Sanders of Oklahoma State, yet out dueled both of them.

Nebraska got blown out in the Fiesta Bowl that year, but there’s no doubting how important Steve Taylor was to those teams he was a part of. He went on to have a lengthy career in the Canadian Football League after wrapping up his college career and sits 13th all-time in passing yards.
