ALL-TIME LEADERS IN PASSING YARDS – NUMBER 1: TOMMY ARMSTRONG JR. (8,871)

Nebraska Quarterback from 2013-2016

Here we are! Number one all-time in passing yards for Nebraska football is Tommy Armstrong Jr., who threw for a whopping 8,871 yards and 67 touchdowns in four seasons as the Cornhuskers quarterback.

Armstrong took over for an injured Taylor Martinez in 2013 and turned heads as a freshman with his just shy of 1,000 yards campaign. Fans knew he was going to be something special and they were right on the money there.

It’ll be a long time before someone else passes [Armstrong] on the list.

Armstrong really took off in 2015, which was the second year of the Mike Riley experiment, throwing for 3,030 yards and 22 touchdowns. He also added seven scores with his legs that season.

The Huskers would get off to a 7-0 start in 2015 and a large part of it was due to Armstrong being the quarterback. He was difficult for opposing defenses to bring down, especially when you threw in his running ability.

Armstrong had big shoes to fill when Martinez got injured in 2013, but he stepped in admirably and became the Huskers starter over the next three years. He holds the all-time passing yards record for Nebraska football and it’ll be a long time before someone else passes him on the list.
