Nebraska Football: All-Time Leaders in Passing Yards
ALL-TIME LEADERS IN PASSING YARDS – NUMBER 5: JOE GANZ (5,125)
Nebraska Quarterback 2006-2008
Joe Ganz was the quarterback during some of the tougher times for the Nebraska football program, but he had a decent career, at least stats wise. Ganz played for two seasons under head coach Bill Callahan before he was axed in 2007 and then was the quarterback for Bo Pelini in his inaugural year at Nebraska.
Ganz saw some playing time in 2007, but not a ton. He appeared in just six games that season and had been beaten out in camp by Arizona State transfer Sam Keller. The Huskers were pretty hyped the offseason leading into 2007 due to how well they had performed in 2006, but greatly disappointed.
When 2008 rolled around and Nebraska had Bo Pelini running their program, fans were eager to see what Joe Ganz could do at quarterback. Ganz passed for 3,568 yards and 25 touchdowns as a senior, which accounted for most of his total while at Nebraska. During his three-year career, Ganz threw for 5,125 yards and 44 touchdowns.
That year, the Huskers went 9-5 and tied for first in the Big 12 North . They’d later go on to win the Gator Bowl against Auburn.
Even though he didn’t spend a lot of time as a starter, Joe Ganz did enough did make it into the top five on this list. Imagine what he could have done with more than one full year as a starter.
