Results vs Expectations

Expectations were extremely high for the Shockers going into the season, but adversity seemed to be the theme for the team, having several come from behind wins & battling through several injuries & close games. Landry Shamet made an immediate impact in his return and is now the leading scorer on the team.

When push came to shove though, the Shockers were able to shine more often than not. Perhaps the most defining trait of this team is their ability to continue to battle and win games when down by double digits.

Quality wins against perennial NCAA Tourney teams Marquette, Cal, and Florida Gulf Coast will help their tournament resume. Road wins against Big 12 teams Oklahoma State & Baylor should also bode well for them in March on Selection Sunday.

Overall, the Shockers came out of 2017 smelling like roses. The most important factor in any sport is wins, and the Shockers have been able to do just that. Saturday’s win against UConn cemented their solid start to the season as well as the conference.
