Kansas Basketball: Biggest threats to KU in the Big 12

Fourteen is the number hidden in the back of the minds of the Kansas basketball program, and the fans that follow.
The Kansas basketball team owns the opportunity to create a new NCAA record for most consecutive conference titles within the history of college basketball.
For Bill Self, and the Jayhawks basketball team, history lies right in front of their eyes. The Jayhawks are one conference schedule away from 14 straight titles in the Big 12. If this were to happen, the Jayhawks will own the top spot in history, and surpass the great John Wooden, and the UCLA Bruins previous record of 13 straight.
Being on top of the Big 12 basketball is nothing new for Kansas. They are one of the most respected and successful programs in all of college basketball. It’s been a very long time since anyone else in the conference has posed a major threat to the Jayhawks.
However, despite the Jayhawks recent success, this season is wide open. There are teams within the Big 12 that have the talent to dethrone the Jayhawks. No, I am not saying the Jayhawks are not the favorite to win, but they do see plenty of talented teams in front of them. Besides, nothing lasts forever.
Some of the most obvious threats to the Jayhawks this year include Trae Young of Oklahoma, Mo Bamba from Texas, and “Press Virginia”. However, these are just examples of who could become the metaphorical “rain on the parade” for Kansas.
The Big 12 is a strong conference with plenty of tough teams. So who poses the biggest threat? Let’s take a look…
