Kansas City Chiefs: 5 Players To Watch vs Chargers
#2 Alex Smith
Guess what? Alex Smith is having a career year for the Kansas City Chiefs in 2017. Smith surpasses his single-season best in passing yards last week, going over the 3500 yard mark for just the second time in his career. If he throws a touchdown pass this week, that will set another career best for him.
Top 10 QBs in Passer Rating (2017)

1) Tom Brady - 105.2
2) Alex Smith - 104.4
3) Drew Brees - 104.2
4) Aaron Rodgers - 103.2
5) DeShaun Watson - 103.0
6) Carson Wentz - 101.9
7) Jared Goff - 99.2
8) Matthew Stafford - 97.9
9) Kirk Cousins - 97.7
10) Philip Rivers - 97.2
The Chiefs have gotten a surprising performance from Alex Smith this year. The veteran quarterback is doing things that people have said he was incapable of. With his future on the line, we have seen a side of Smith this year that nobody even thought existed.
Kansas City needs Alex Smith to have another good game this week. He doesn’t have to put up big numbers, just be effective. As long as the Chiefs offense can move the ball steadily down the field and chew up clock, they should win. That means Smith will need to be careful with the ball and make smart decisions.
Of course, I doubt any of us would be opposed to Alex Smith coming out and blowing the doors off the Chargers.
