Royals rumors will be heating up here soon and one of the names to watch is Lorenzo Cain, former center fielder for the Kansas City Royals.

By this point, Kansas City Royals fans are waiting the inevitable to find out where the big name free agents are going to wind up. Lorenzo Cain is one of those free agents and he’s one that the Royals have really not been linked to re-signing.

The thing with outfielders is that sometimes they can play any of the three spots out there, but Cain truly is a center fielder. He’s great with his range in the outfield yet doesn’t have a Gold Glove to show for it, which is crap.

Cain had a great year in 2017, slashing .300/.363/.440 with 49 RBI and 15 home runs in 584 at bats. This was a big step up for Cain after he missed a portion of the 2016 season due to various injuries.

When Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports did his predictions for the top 25 free agents, he wrote this about Cain regarding the Royals,

"“He’s gone,” said one person familiar with past negotiations, which ended with the sides far apart."

Forewarning, in my Eric Hosmer and Mike Moustakas posts, I’ve listed them from least likeliest to likeliest landing spots. Cain was a little more difficult to find possible destinations, as there’s definitely more of a limited market for him.

In other words, these are in no particular order. So where could Cain wind up? Let’s check out some potential landing spots for the former Royals center fielder.
