#1 Support Alex Smith

Being the leader on a team is about confidence. Regardless of your level of greatness, confidence plays a key factor in your success. This is true for every player in every sport. Talent can only get you so far, and when  confidence wanes, so does ability.

Andy Reid needs to squash all rumors of any kind of quarterback controversy. There is no controversy. Alex Smith is the quarterback of this team, and everyone, including the fans, need to get behind him. While Alex has had a couple of rough patches this year, he has still performed as one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL. It is the team around him that has failed him over and over gain.

Among starting quarterbacks, Alex is 7th in the league in total passing yards. He is fourth in the league in touchdowns, second behind only Tom Brady in QB rating, and 5th in the league in both yards per catch and interceptions. I feel like whatever argument you might have about Alex Smith not being “this or that” is ridiculous. While he may not be the best QB in the NFL, he is elite, and his stats prove it. Patrick Ma who? I guess we will find that out next year.
