I might regret grouping Matt Ryan in the “Sit ‘Em” section this week, but Matty Ice just hasn’t been his normal self this season. After a dominant season in which he won MVP, Ryan has been a disappointment to his fantasy owners.
This past week, Ryan threw for just 173 yards with zero touchdowns against the Vikings. Sure, Minnesota’s defense is pretty dang good, but Ryan was shredding even the best defenses a year ago.
The Saints did a nice job limiting Cam Newton in the passing game last week, holding him to just 183 yards. He did throw for two touchdowns though. Even with New Orleans’ top cornerback Marshon Lattimore out last week, Newton couldn’t get much going.
Even worse news for Atlanta is that Lattimore should be back this week. He’s been a great shutdown corner as a rookie and will likely be matched up with Julio Jones. That should be a fun battle!
