In result of the pitiful performances from Alex Smith, the KC Chiefs should consider starting Patrick Mahomes. At the same time, however, they should stick with Smith.

Imagine being week 1-5 Alex Smith for a moment. Owning the highest QBR in the NFL, and playing with the best offense in the NFL. Sounds quite alright, does it not? Now, imagine the weeks 6-12 while being in Smith’s shoes – two completely different stories.

KC Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith has lost his groove, and his confidence, and he is now playing just as he used to – inconsistent, with a lack of confidence in the pocket.

The most popular solution is to start rookie quarterback Patrick Mahomes II. Perhaps this is the appropriate solution to the sudden predicament. However, is it far too soon?

Starting Mahomes seems logical, but at the same time, it seems to be the wrong decision. Pros and cons dwindle throughout, if the team made the move to start Mahomes. Let’s take a look.
