Royals Rumors: Potential landing spots for Mike Moustakas in free agency
POTENTIAL LANDING SPOTS FOR MOUSTAKAS – ST. LOUIS CARDINALS
It wouldn’t be a Royals rumors article if the St. Louis Cardinals weren’t in play for a former Royal. The team on the other side of the state has shown interest in Mike Moustakas, which isn’t surprising considering Matt Carpenter has struggled defensively, no matter where St. Louis sticks him at in the infield.

Rick Hummel of St. Louis Post-Dispatch listed 15 free agents that the Cardinals could be interested in and Mike Moustakas was one of them. Hummel notes that Moose being under 30 is a huge positive (though he will turn 30 in September) and the fact that he smashed 38 home runs a season ago is something for fans to keep an eye on.
The Cardinals have steep competition in the National League Central with the Chicago Cubs becoming a dominating force in that division. If St. Louis wants to get back to where they once were, adding Moustakas could be a step in the right direction.
