Royals Rumors: Potential landing spots for Mike Moustakas in free agency
A lot of the Royals rumors this winter are going to revolve around third baseman Mike Moustakas. Where will Moustakas sign?
Kansas City Royals fans are going to have a rough offseason, as they’ll see several of their favorite players likely sign with other teams. The band formerly known as the Kansas City Royals will be broken up and fans will be watching those top free agents hit bombs and make defensive web gems with other teams.
Mike Moustakas is one of those free agents hitting the open market. While it’d be cool to re-sign Moustakas, the Royals have made it known that Eric Hosmer is their top priority.
Moustakas had a career year in 2017, crushing 38 home runs and plating 85 RBI behind a slash line of .272/.314/.521 in 555 at bats. Moose broke the Royals’ home run single season record, which had been standing since 1985.
The big thing to remember with Moustakas is that he’s a California kid, so a lot of the West Coast teams will likely be in play for him. He’s also 29 years old and has shown he has a knack for power. Imagine how many more home runs Moose would have hit had he not played 81 games at the spacious Kauffman Stadium.
So, what teams are being linked with Mike Moustakas so far? Let’s take a look.
