Border War Born Again?

Once upon a time, it seemed to be a foregone conclusion fans would never see Missouri play Kansas ever again. Whether you blame Missouri for moving to the SEC or Kansas for refusing to schedule the Tigers is irrelevant. The truth seemed to be that the rivalry was gone.

At least that was the case up until this season as Missouri and Kansas finally squared off at Sprint Center in the Showdown for Relief. Even though Missouri turned in a losing effort, there is plenty for fans to be thankful for there.

Number one, it showed there was still a demand for this matchup despite not being in the same conference. The game sold out in short order and a pay-per-view viewing option was even added for fans unable to score tickets.

While there are no additional matchups between the Tigers and Jayhawks on the docket at this time, never say never. The special set of circumstances that prompted this game may have finally began the process of healing between Mizzou and KU. Who knows what that could lead to in the future.

Even a minute chance of the full-time return of Missouri’s biggest rivalry should be enough to get fans excited and to give them something to be thankful for.
