Most KC Royals fans dislike the St. Louis Cardinals, so the Giancarlo Stanton trade rumors about him going to St. Louis should be ones that Royals fans cringe at.

The latest Giancarlo Stanton trade rumors have many people speculating that the right-handed slugger might get dealt during this year’s winter meetings in Orlando on Dec. 10-14. Many of those speculations involve that other team which unfortunately plays its home games in Missouri, which shall not be named in this article for appropriate reasons.

The mere existence of the slightest chance of Stanton playing his home games at Busch Stadium for the foreseeable future should be something that should make all Kansas City Royals fans feel nauseous.

Stanton’s abilities when he is healthy are well documented. He just won the second NL Silver Slugger award of his career, and led all NL position players in WAR last season. He also led the NL in runs batted in, total bases, extra base hits, intentional walks, home runs, and a few other advanced metrics that many baseball fans won’t be familiar with.

An acquiring team would have him under control for at least the next three seasons, as he isn’t eligible for free agency until after the 2020 season, when he can opt out of his current contract. St. Louis has a need for Stanton’s power, and their current payroll obligations are such as they could take on his salary while staying under the luxury tax threshold.
