Kansas City Chiefs: Mid Season Gradecards
By Chris Taylor
Defensive Line: D
This may be the more surprising grade the Chiefs received here, at least from what we as fans and analysts thought at the beginning of the season. The whole group has underperformed all season as a whole. Neither able to stop the run or develop a pass rush, the play of the line has affected the rest of the defense as well.
There was much hype on Chris Jones, and after his four tackle, three sack, two forced fumble performance against the Eagles in week two, the hype appeared to be valid. Since then, Jones has been a mere body on the field. As the centerpiece of the defensive line, his name has been near absent for too many games.
Allen Bailey has had a better season than Jones, but his production hasn’t met expectations either after missing the 2016 season. Bennie Logan has been the most active on the line with 32 total tackles. Recently arrested Roy Miller, Jarvis Jenkins and Rakeem Nunez-Roches have done little in support.
The defensive line is grounded as well.
