Offensive Line: D+

Injuries have some to do with the struggles of the line, that’s an excuse for bad play however. Alex Smith has already been sacked 24 times this season, after being sacked 28 times all of last season. Numbers seldom lie, the Chiefs quarterback doesn’t have much time to operate. Can you blame him for having happy feet from time to time.

Mitchell Schwartz is having an up and down season. He has allowed four sacks and been penalized twice. These numbers aren’t absolutely horrible, but they are not good. Eric Fisher has allowed four sacks and racked up four penalties. These numbers are not what a team is looking for from their tackles, especially from the blind side.

Bryan Witzmann hasn’t allowed a sack yet, but he has had six penalties called on him. Some of which have negated substantial gains in yardage. Parker Ehringer should reclaim the starting role once healthy enough.

There are bright spots on the offensive line. Both Mitch Morse and Laurent Devernay-Tardif have been solid for the Chiefs, however both have missed some time due to injury.

This group hasn’t been consistent all year, both with run blocking and pass protection. The line should get better as the season goes on, but for now, they’re grounded.
