Kansas City Chiefs: Mid Season Gradecards
By Chris Taylor
Tight End: A
Travis Kelce is perhaps the best tight end in football, the only reason it’s a discussion is a certain Gronkowski that plays the same position. Kelce remains to be the favorite target of his quarterback.
Travis has caught at least four passes in every game except the Charger game, where he caught one pass on one target for one yard. He continues to come up big for the Chiefs, and he has been one of the few bright spots during the recent slide the Chiefs have been on. He has 22 catches for 276 yards and three touchdowns over the last four games.
Kelce provides a spark for the offense as the most animated player on the team, as well as being the best dancer. Although his antics cost the Chiefs yards at time, he may possibly be the most valuable player on offense.
His season totals as of now are on pace to be his best yet. With 51 catches, 629 yards and five touchdowns, he is on pace to lead all tight ends in catches and yards.
Demetrius Harris on the other hand has been a bit of a disappointment. Harris has a total of seven catches for 52 yards and a touchdown. Those numbers are just a hair better than a couple tight ends the Chiefs let go. In three fewer games Anthony Fasano has seven catches for 45 yards and a score. James O’Shaughnessy has seven catches for 47 yards in seven games.
Despite the lack of production from the number two so far, Kelce keeps the grade high.
