Kansas City Chiefs: Mid Season Gradecards
By Chris Taylor
Halfway through the season, the Kansas City Chiefs sit at 6-3, atop their division. There have been ups and downs, bright spots and dark spots. Let’s slap a grade down position by position.
The Kansas City Chiefs have had an interesting season to say the least. They’ve won games in spectacular fashion and lost games in not so spectacular fashion. The first half of the season has shown us impressive and depressive performances, touchdown celebrations worthy of an Emmy and historical feats have been accomplished.
The atrocious schedule the Chiefs faced right out of the gate put fear and doubt into the minds of fans and media alike. Defending champion and juggernaut team New England Patriots awaited the Chiefs on opening night, as they celebrated with their fans as they lowered their most recent Championship banner. The Chiefs ruined the Patriots party and went on to win the next four, including the Philadelphia Eagles, who have won every other game they’ve played.
The last four games the Chiefs have been less than inspirational, losing three of those games. The win against the Denver Broncos still managed to leave a bad taste in many mouths. Needless to say, Kansas City has let off the gas offensively and are struggling to find consistent play on defense.
Many on sports radio and football blogs have mentioned the Chiefs bye week has come at the perfect time, perhaps the perfect time would have been week six? Either way the Kansas City Chiefs are in a fine position to move forward to a deep playoff run.
I’ll be handing out semester grades, not only to the positions themselves, but those who are pivotal to those positions.
