Alex Smith is a scapegoat to many’s problems revolving around the Kansas City Chiefs. Despite losing three out of the last four, the blame should not be directed all on Smith, as the team has many other problems to fix.

The Kansas City Chiefs started the 2017 season rolling. They were 1-0, then 2-0, 3-0, 4-0, 5-0, and the team was riding high, but then a loss to the Steelers created havoc beyond imagining. After that first loss of the season, the team followed with 5-1, 5-2, 6-2, 6-3. Is the world ending? Nope.

The Chiefs lost three out of their last four games – we must blame Alex Smith, right? The answer is No, with an uppercase “n”.

Honestly, I do not even understand the reasoning behind this. Perhaps Smith spoiled us early this season, he is an easy target, or just because there is a lack of knowledge about the team. Whatever the case may be, this is not 100% Smith’s fault.

Sure, he has to take some blame, I mean, he is the quarterback and quarterbacks are the team’s leader. Smith is the coach on the field, he is the mentor, but is he the 100% reason the Chiefs are not playing to their potential right now? Absolutely not. Smith is still my starting quarterback.
