Five Intriguing Players Yet to Hit Potential – Number 2: Reggie Ragland
General manager Brett Veach acquired Reggie Ragland from the Buffalo Bills via trade – sending the Bills a 2019 fourth round pick in exchange for Ragland and his talents. Ragland a former 2016 round pick missed his entire 2016 rookie campaign with a torn ACL, which made his value drop to an all-time low. On the bright side, if Ragland stays healthy, this move could be quite a steal, in favor of the Chiefs.
Ragland has seen the field this season, but I think experience is key for Ragland to become what the man is capable of being on the football field. When I say man, I would even argue myself that “man” is an understatement.
Ragland’s closing downhill speed is freakish. Once Ragland becomes fully healthy, and tuned into the system, I truly believe Ragland gets the torch handed down from the inside linebacker anchor Derrick Johnson in the near future.
When will the Chiefs unleash Ragland?
Perhaps he already has been unleashed to a degree, but I think his name obviously lies under Johnson, as he wins due to his veteran status. So, Ragland’s name will become far more familiar, and noticeable, once Johnson throws in the towel, and puts an end to his wonderful NFL career.
Ragland surely knows he is the next man up. Fans had to be pleased with Veach making this move because the linebacker corps went from extremely thin to extremely talented. Additions such as Kevin Pierre-Louis, and Ukeme Eligwe – the inside linebacker future looks extremely bright.
