The K-State Wildcats hit the road to face the Ryan Gosling Kliff Kingsbury led Texas Tech Red Raiders in a battle that was a near must win for both teams to get to bowl eligibility. In a back and forth game, the Wildcats emerged victorious in a 42-35 game that went to overtime.

The game had a bit of everything as multiple players were ejected for targeting, multiple players with career games, and even a few younger players getting some major playing time for the Wildcats.

It also featured some wild mood swings among fans, including me, as the win probability chart that ESPN provides ranged from 100% K-State to 99.1% Texas Tech. At that 99.1% for Texas Tech, I was trying to decide if the hashtag I’d lead with was #BurnItDown or #FireEveryone.

However, a missed field goal by the team with the worst field goal percentage in the Big12 gave life to new hero Skylar Thompson who took control of the quarterback race (more on this later) to bring K-State back and force overtime. Suddenly, overly-emotional fans were swept with pride and joy and the K-State outlook changed.

There is a lot to break down, so let’s get started
