ROYALS FREE AGENTS THIS WINTER – LORENZO CAIN

Now we get to the big name free agents with Lorenzo Cain leading things off here. Cain had a great 2017 season, which is great for him, but not so great for Kansas City when trying to retain him.

Cain slashed .300/.363/.440 in 584 plate appearances. He hit 15 home runs during that time and showed that he can still be that powerful hitter at the plate and also an amazing defender in center field.

All of those reasons point to why Cain won’t stay a Royal. Teams are going to want the now former Royals center fielder even though he’ll be 32 in April. The Royals might be afraid to offer Cain a big deal due to what happened with Alex Gordon, but other teams won’t.

The Angels hopefully won’t be in on Cain now that they’ve given Justin Upton an extension, but a team like the Rangers would be a good fit for LoCain. It’d be great to see him stay in Kansas City, but I’m not optimistic about that happening.
