ROYALS FREE AGENT THIS WINTER – MIKE MINOR

I put Mike Minor last on here because he hit free agency more recently than the rest of the bunch. The surprisingly effective reliever declined his option and will now be looking potentially to join a new team this winter.

Minor should get some nice offers, as he ended the 2017 season as Kansas City’s closer, saving six games for the team. Minor’s 2.55 ERA in 77.2 innings will certainly garner attention and we’ve all seen how much teams are willing to shell out for a legitimate closer.

Minor used to be a starting pitcher with last season being the first time in his career that he did not start a single game. The Royals, once again, found a former starter and turned him into a dominant reliever out of the pen. Another team will now likely swoop in and make Minor their closer.

I’ll be shocked if Mike Minor somehow still pitches for the Royals next season.
