K-State football took the field in the Sunflower Showdown against KU. What some joked as the modern Toilet Bowl Game lived down to it’s billing, as the Wildcats prevailed and won 30-20.

I suspect both fan-bases will come away mad as K-State fans will feel like they should have put the Jayhawks away. KU fans will feel like they let one slip away. It was that kind of game. Both teams were at least consistent and did the types of things that have both fan bases feeling underwhelmed.

From the K-State side, there should be significant disappointment in allowing a terrible team to keep the game close. In fact, if not for the special teams play, it could have been disastrous. I suspect the offensive and defensive units will not have fun in practice this week.

There are clearly cracks in the foundation and instead of trying to patch them up against a bad team, it appears they are only growing. K-State suddenly faces a challenge simply to get bowl eligible in what now appears to be a lost year.

It can’t all be bad right? Let’s get to the grades.
