Addressing Needs In the Draft: Kansas City Chiefs – Cornerbacks
By Kyle Hull
Anthony Averett
Of course, there’s an Alabama prospect. Anthony Averett’s college career has been nothing but impressive. Averett’s knack for lockdown defense, and love for contact make him the perfect fit for the Chiefs.
77 total tackles in his career at Alabama, Averett plays football with such a demeanor that is not found much in the NFL lately.
Corners in the NFL these days lack pure tackling tendencies. Averett is a ball hawk, as he is always looking for ways to make a play.
The Chiefs tend to miss a lot of tackles if there is a play breaking free into the secondary. A tackler such as Averett would be a huge help, complementing the contact-driven safety in Berry.
Averett is a senior, and will undoubtedly be on an NFL team next year. If he is available in the second round, the chances are high for the Chiefs to take the young talent from Alabama. Because, who wouldn’t?
