The Kansas City Chiefs are in dire need of a cornerback, or twelve. A quick way to solve this problem is addressing it early in the 2018 NFL Draft.

The 2018 NFL draft does not include the Kansas City Chiefs in the first round thus far due to the Patrick Mahomes II acquisition in the 2017 first round. Perhaps an Alex Smith trade will involve a first round pick, or another trade capable of hauling in a first rounder.

Currently, where the team stands based on lack of production is pinpointed solely on the defense. Perhaps a second round offensive lineman would be a nice addition, though it is not needed as much as help in the secondary.

A cornerback is very much needed in Kansas City. Phillip Gaines and Terrance Mitchell had their decent runs, but it is time to start fresh. Time to build around Marcus Peters, and a healthy Steven Nelson with a healthy Eric Berry at the safety position.
