Kansas City Chiefs: NFL Power Rankings Week 7
By Ben Almquist
Back to back losses for the Kansas City Chiefs will definitely have them falling in the standings. Just how far? Let’s take a look at this week’s power rankings.
Chiefs Kingdom is hurting this week after the Kansas City Chiefs dropped their second straight game. The mounting injuries (and tough schedule) were too much to overcome on a short week. However, that really shouldn’t have anyone “down” on the Chiefs right now. Of course, they certainly had to drop in this week’s power rankings.
Not that power rankings mean much of anything in the NFL. In fact, outside of fan reaction, they really don’t provide anything at all. That doesn’t mean we don’t love them though. It’s a nice little mud in the eye of your rivals to say that you’re team is ranked higher.
We have reached the midpoint of the 2017 season, and we finally have a good idea of who is who in the NFL. The Chiefs certainly belong in the top tier of the league, despite their recent losses. Of course, you will have more than a few people who can’t wait to knock them down a peg.
So let’s see what the world thinks of the 2017 Kansas City Chiefs right now.
FanSided
An auspicious start for the Kansas City Chiefs this week in the FanSided power rankings from Matt Verderame. Dropping to just fourth in these power rankings is a good sign in my book. Verderame is a known Chiefs fans, and they are usually the team’s toughest critics after a loss.
I’m not sure I can get behind ranking the Patriots ahead of the Chiefs though. Sorry, but a head to head match-up still weighs pretty heavily in my book, and Kansas it got the win there. The win over the Falcons was solid, but the rest of their three-game streak isn’t all that impressive.
Kansas City’s defense definitely has some things to figure out, but the Broncos should be a good chance to rebound. The film is out on the Denver offense, and teams have definitely figured them out. The Chiefs need to keep that going.
