Slowly but surely – Chiefs have talented linebacker corps

This 2017 defense has not lived up to their standards, and it has not even been close. Poor cornerback play, lack of pressure on the football, and slow adjustments creates an unreliable defense in Kansas City.

General manager Brett Veach made two moves since he took the duties as GM to boost the thin inside linebacker corps. The additions of Kevin Pierre-Louis, and Reggie Ragland, alongside rookie Ukeme Eligwe suddenly gives the Chiefs options at inside linebacker, once veteran Derrick Johnson throws in the towel – which appears to be soon, due to age, and durability.

To further exemplify the young, and talented inside linebacker corps – Ragland, and Eligwe were ranked in the top three linebacker class as seniors in high school back in 2012, according to ESPN recruiting indexes. Ragland was ranked second, and Eligwe as the number three.

With time, the linebacker corps will eventually be a threat. The talent is something special, as they show flashes each week.

The key here is timing. With time, the corps will take the spot of the beloved Derrick, and will be a thing of beauty.
