The man on fire
The predicted Alex Smith is here. Smith is finally playing the way many predicted he would play as a number one draft pick.
Smith’s stats in 2017 are a thing of beauty. His 15 to zero touchdown to interception reception makes the offense even more dominant. Along with his 15 touchdowns, Smith has a 72.4% completion rating, off of 1,979 total yards.
Perhaps the Patrick Mahomes acquisition woke Smith up a bit, or the former number one overall pick has only been saving it for the right opportune time. Whatever the case may be – Alex Smith is playing like a top-tier quarterback in Kansas City.
As a fan, we hope this continues. No matter how he does in the regular season, he must get further in the playoffs to consider it a successful season.
Alex Smith had 15 touchdown passes all of last season. He already has 15 this year through 6.5 games.

If he does not make it past the divisional round, assuming the team makes the playoffs, the Mahomes era will take place next season. Honestly though, I think we all should sit back and appreciate his slick 2017 campaign. I think the Smith era changed the atmosphere within the organization for the better.
