UGLY: DEFENSE AS A WHOLE

Remember when the Kansas City Chiefs had a tremendous defense, but their offense couldn’t do squat? Well, things are reversed now. The Chiefs defense did not have a good outing on Thursday and the blueprint is out on how to beat them now.

The only thing working in Kansas City’s favor was that Oakland’s defense is also terrible.

Derek Carr, a quarterback who has struggled against the Chiefs in his career, put up Hall of Fame-like numbers in this one. He threw for over 400 yards and had four touchdowns on the night. He was barely pressured and was not sacked.

The pass rush is an issue because there is no pass rush and the secondary is a joke. These are two CRUCIAL aspects for NFL defenses and without either of them working, the opposition is going to put up points on the Chiefs.

The only thing working in Kansas City’s favor was that Oakland’s defense is also terrible. When the Chiefs play the Broncos, getting the kind of stats they got in this game could be hard to come by.

For the first time since the end of the 2013 season, I’m legitimately concerned about this defense. Without a good defense, teams aren’t going to go far unless they have Aaron Rodgers or Tom Brady leading the way. Even Drew Brees is pretty helpless for the Saints and their bad defense.

I really hope Bob Sutton figures it out, and fast. We need a change defensively.
