Kansas City Chiefs: The Day After Chaos in Oakland
By Chris Taylor
Focus Points
The Kansas City Chiefs let one slip away. The defense is to blame. No pressure on the quarterback and unable to cover receivers without cheating is the storyline here.
Harrison Butker is probably safe so far. He can start looking for a home nearby. If he keeps it up this will be his home for some time.
Kareem Hunt is a beast, and he needs the ball more. No reason to save him for the end run if the Chiefs keep losing.
Tyreek Hill needs to be utilized the correct way. At least three times per game a deep shot needs to be attempted. No reason one of those three wouldn’t be touchdowns.
In my matchup piece I mentioned I thought the secondary would come through big. They sure did, but not in the way I had anticipated, coming up big for the Raiders.
The Chiefs are still one of the best teams in the league. They have a glaring hole when it comes to pass defense.
A team can have a weak secondary if the pass rush is there. Likewise a team can have a weak pass rush if the secondary is strong. The Chiefs have neither at the moment.
So it’s Andy Reid and Bob Suttons job to figure it out. They have a little extra time before they give Denver the chance to look like the next best thing.
Next: Bold Predictions for 2017
The Raiders aren’t as bad as their record would suggest, in fact they’re probably still the second best team in the division.
Lucky for the Chiefs they have one more date with Oakland to get their revenge.
