It finally happened. The Kansas City Chiefs lost their first game of the year. How did that affect their spots in the power rankings from around the league?

The Kansas City Chiefs lost their first game of the season this past weekend. Once again the Steelers had the Chiefs number and continued to frustrate KC fans. Despite that, Kansas City still holds a game lead on the AFC and are one of just two teams with one loss…oh, and they’ve already beaten the other team (the Eagles).

Of course, that didn’t matter much in the power rankings this week because so many people have been waiting to tear them down.

Not that power rankings mean much of anything in the NFL. In fact, outside of fan reaction, they really don’t provide anything at all. That doesn’t mean we don’t love them though. It’s a nice little mud in the eye of your rivals to say that you’re team is ranked higher.

We are now at the point of the year where we have a good idea of which teams are good, and which aren’t. That means you won’t see a bunch of big jumps all over the board. However, that doesn’t mean there won’t be a few.

So let’s see what the world thinks of the 2017 Kansas City Chiefs right now.

1. team. 124. Even with an ugly loss, the Chiefs stay here. They have the best résumé in the NFL and remain the team to beat in the AFC.. (5-1). Previous: . Kansas City Chiefs

We kick this off with FanSided’s power rankings from Matt Verderame, and a little bit of sanity. Verderame is dead on with his analysis in keeping the Chiefs at the top of the rankings. I was a little worried that Matt, a noted Chiefs fan, would fall into despair like many in KC.

There is no doubt that the Chiefs have the best resume in the NFL right now. The Patriots, Eagles, Redskins and Texans have all fallen to KC this season. That is quite a list of teams to have beaten so far. Yes, the loss to Pittsburgh stings, but it’s just one loss.

Kansas City is still very much the team to beat in the NFL. The Chiefs are still dealing with a lot of injuries, so they should only be getting better as the weeks go on. There really is no reason why KC shouldn’t be holding down the top spot in everyone’s power rankings.
