Kansas City Chiefs: Report Card Vs Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 6
I love Andy Reid and what he’s done for this organization, but this game was not one of his brighter moments. The biggest knock I have on Reid is that he elected to go for it on fourth down with plenty of time left in the fourth quarter. The Chiefs didn’t convert.
Had the Chiefs kicked the field goal there, it’d have been 12-6 and that De’Anthony Thomas touchdown would have been enough to take the lead at 13-12. Even with that ridiculous Antonio Brown touchdown (which I doubt would have happened had the Chiefs been ahead), the Chiefs would have been in the game until the end. Not only that, but the momentum would have been with the Chiefs.
My only reasoning for why the Chiefs chose to go for it there was because the offense hadn’t been moving the ball all day. Reid might have saw that as a lone opportunity for finding the end zone. I don’t agree with that thinking however.
I also wasn’t pleased with the defensive schemes. Justin Houston shouldn’t be dropping back in coverage and Ron Parker shouldn’t be rushing the quarterback. It should be the other way around and I don’t even see how that’s debatable.
The coaching has been a huge positive for the Chiefs over the last four years, but this was a really bad game for them.
