K-State Football should be much better than they are

K-State football has gotten off to a disappointing 3-2 start even though the expectations were for this team to contend in the Big 12.

It’s disappointing for all fans alike when your team doesn’t exactly perform up to your’s or anyone else’s standards. It’s actually super frustrating, especially when you are dealt some hope before the season. Whatever the reason, for K-State Football this is the reality. Now lets rant about it.

K-State Football: Shouldn’t They Be Better?

Maybe this is our fault? It is a 100% possibility that I could have overhyped my favorite college football team. Yet, at the same time I don’t feel misguided or disillusioned. I feel robbed. We had it all, didn’t we? An “experienced quarterback” and what about the “amazing depth at running back” or what has really failed us “The best O-Line in the BIG12.”

All these things were not just spoken into existence, they were stamped on every fans heart as gold. But, alas that is not what we got or what we even experienced over the past five games. What makes things worse is who the Wildcats have performed this way against.

Vanderbilt? No, really K-State… Vanderbilt?!?! The same team a week later that got destroyed in every phase of the game by Alabama by a score of 59-0? It really puts into perspective where the team stands when the number one team in the nation does that to the same opponent Kansas State only scored seven points against.

K-State Football: The True Robbery

I’m looking directly at you Alex Barnes, Jesse Ertz, and of course the offensive line. Where y’all at? We could blame the O-line for a lot of the offensive mess, but instead I won’t do that. As far as the lack of offensive rushing yards is concerned, sorry Mr. Barnes, but you are the weakest link.

We’re five games in and have only seen Mike McCoy twice… Twice!?!?! What’s even better is he scored a highlight run during that time. His tape doesn’t lie if you’ve seen his high school or college practice tapes. Either way he is easily the best running back on the squad yet he remains sidelined for who knows what.

Jesse Ertz, you might have fooled everyone else my friend, but you never fooled me. He’s a solid quarterback, really he is, especially for the offense Bill Snyder runs in Manhattan, but he’s not up to the level of past quarterbacks before him. Collin Kline, Jake Waters, and even a back up in Sams(for those that remember Daniel Sams). Alex Delton has always been better and hopefully takes over the starting job to begin his era in Manhattan.

K-State Football: What Future?

I honestly can’t predict a future for this team, maybe they will bounce back and beat TCU somehow and everyone criticizing them will look foolish. Or maybe, they just are not who we thought they were (shout out Coach Green).

Above is what I know to be true through five games, as our defense continues to do it’s job or at the very least enough for us to win. The offense continues to be miserable. I knew the receivers would be for lack of a better word, trash. The run game though? It’s rough to watch, and has no where to go but up, yeah?

The coaching staff could have easily gotten its own section in this post, as they have been completely awful through these five games. Honestly that might have been the most shocking, but I believe in Bill Snyder and hope they turn it around.

Through all of this ranting and anger honestly, just because I’m mad K-State doesn’t mean I don’t care. I’ll be watching this Saturday and cheering Kansas State on, but I’m a writer and will write accordingly. Please don’t let me or the Wildcat faithful down.
