Replay and Reffing

I expect some “apologies” from the Big12 for the performance of the reffing crew. There was only one “bad” call, on Reggie Walker, where he was flagged for hitting the quarterback. However, the consistency on holding calls throughout the game was disappointing.

You never want to blame referees, especially in a game like this when the statistics show you probably didn’t even deserve overtime.

The cynic in me thinks this is to protect the flagship program of the Big12, because when K-State gets 7 penalties for 70 yards and Texas gets 3 for 30, when Texas game in averaging more than 9 a game, well, you see where I’m going.

Not only that, we have another replay controversy in our hands. Somehow, despite video evidence that showed a Texas wide receiver didn’t have possession, the replay official managed to overturn the incomplete ruling on the field to favor Texas. This is inexcusable.

You never want to blame referees, especially in a game like this when the statistics show you probably didn’t even deserve overtime. However, the refs managed to make themselves the center of attention with brutal calls at pivotal moments.

I could go on forever, however, just like the football team, it’s time to focus on next week.
